My Sweet Sister,
Jeremiah 1:5 says, “I chose YOU before I formed YOU in the womb; I set YOU apart before YOU were born. I appointed YOU a prophet to the nations.”
I’ve thought long and I ended up reflecting on my own coming-of-age experience.
I remember being in your shoes. You don’t want anyone to tell you what to do, but you crave acceptance, long for love, desire to feel beautiful and more than anything, want to be wanted. To the world it may appear you have “it all figured out” but deep down you are crying for so much more. It’s hard to admit, but you don’t have a blueprint for fulfilling your desires, so you fall for almost anything.
I remember the first time a guy showed interest in me. I was 14 years old and vowed that I would never let someone hurt me like that again.
Fast-forward a few years, and like I needed them to be beautiful. You don’t need them.
I want you to recognize the verse at the beginning is your life line to knowing your true value: God chose YOU. No fixing yourself up or making yourself worthy, like you do with those guys who always want more. God wants you for you, quirks and all. In fact, God is OBSESSED with you. Psalm 45:11 states, “The King is enthralled with your beauty.” Enthralled means fascinated. Yes, God is fascinated with you.
It took me a while, longer than I had hoped, but I’ve come to this realization. When you refuse to settle for some guy that wants you for every other reason than what you are purposed for, and step into God’s plan for you, what the world has been telling you won’t matter so much.
It will be hard, but God can do immeasurably more. God has destined you “for such a time as this.” Step into what He has for you, and disappointments.
Your Big Sister Sara
