Communications Director –

One More Child is seeking to employ a full time Communications Director to impact vulnerable children and struggling families through foster care, single moms, child hunger, anti-trafficking, and prevention programs. The individual hired for this position will provide leadership and direct support to the V.P. of Communications in the areas of marketing/public relations ideation, strategy development, communications planning, copywriting, copy editing, staff oversight, project management, graphic design and more. The Communications Director develops, implements and/or oversees results-driven multi-media plans for One More Child (onemorechild.org).

Essential Duties & Functions:

  • Develops and implements multi-media, strategic communications plans to drive results and increase organization’s impact for vulnerable children and struggling families.
  • Develops messaging plans and content packages to inform and inspire diverse audiences – to include media partners, businesses, churches, and client families.
  • Provides project oversight – using project management techniques – to keep marketing campaigns and efforts for targeted audience on time and within budget.
  • Provides mentorship and oversight of communications staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Provides agency and team support through expert and detailed copyediting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related area (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in marketing, communications, or public relations field.
  • Experience in pitching stories to media (with examples of published works).
  • Experience in advertising through digital platforms to drive results.
  • Knowledge of and experience in using multiple social media platforms to include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
  • Knowledge of Associated Press writing and editing style guide.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Proven track record of working successfully in a team setting.
  • Track record of creative thinking.
  • Highly-motivated and organized

Preferred:

  • Two-year track record of providing oversight to direct reports (or is able to communicate similar experiences with interns, volunteers, etc).
