Spring Hill Baptist mission team hit the ground running today. After a delicious breakfast (can you say “fresh fruit”?), we had a devotion on love. It really was a motivator. We then jumped in the van and headed off listening to some rockin’ Christian music.
The camaraderie with the team has been awesome. Arriving on site we met the work crew and both sides were challenged to memorize each other’s names. I will remember Santo and Domingo. Hah!
We then started painting houses. We finished one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Pretty good. We also did a one hour bible study with the local children in morning and afternoon. The kids were incredible. We sang, played games, read scripture, and did crafts on the Fruits of the Spirit. I don’t know who had more fun, them or us.
Last we headed over to their gravel filled diamond for a game of baseball. What a day! Chicken, beans and rice, potato salad, and fried corn bread awaited for dinner. After eating we shared our best moment of the day before retreating to a cold shower. It felt great. We then met on the lesson for the next day and some not so friendly game of dominoes. Rest will come easy tonight. Miss my family but excited about tomorrow.
