In the first week of December, sponsored children and their families arrived at the center to collect their monthly food basket. Additionally, this month each child received a new outfit as a part of their Christmas gift!
December is a time filled with many traditions in every family. In Guatemala, the Christmas season is typically celebrated with traditional Posadas. “Posada” in Spanish means “inn.” The tradition is a reenactment of Mary and Joseph’s journey to find shelter. It lasts for 9 nights, from December 16th-25th, representing the 9 months of Mary’s pregnancy.
On December 16th, children and there is a large celebration. What a special way to celebrate the birth of Jesus!
As we celebrate the birth of our Savior during this month, we at One More Child give Him thanks for the many blessings that He has given to us. We thank Him for these children and partnership in 2015. We look forward to what He will allow us to be a part of in 2016!
