How does the Internship Program work?

Interns give of their services without pay in pursuit of experience, volunteer hours and be a minimum of 18 years old. Students must be legally eligible for employment in the United States.

What does a Global OMC intern do?


Interns will have many opportunities for service during their stay in Guatemala. They will work directly with the children and practice Spanish!


Interns will have many opportunities for service during their stay in the Dominican Republic. There is a school, medical clinic, sponsorship program, and practice Spanish!


Interns will have many opportunities for service in Ugand sightseeing.


Interns at our international office in Lakeland based interns will have the opportunity to travel to Central America for a one-week mission trip during their internship (optional).

Where do the Global Interns stay?

Interns stay at the Malnutrition Center in San Juan, Guatemala.  It is dorm-style housing with shared bathrooms and snacks. Wifi is available.


Interns stay at the OMC apartment in Azua, Dominican Republic.  There are shared bedrooms and snacks. Wifi is available.


Interns in Ugand her children. Wifi is sporadically available.


Interns in Lakeland transportation.

When is the deadline for submitting applications?

February 1 for Summer Internships

June 1 for Fall Internships (dates to be determined)

October 1 for Spring Internships (dates to be determined)

When are payments due for the intern program?

A $250 initial payment is due upon acceptance into the internship program. This initial payment is applied to the total cost of the internship program.

  • April 25 – Balance due in full
