As part of One More Child’s ministry in El Salvador, we support a Christian school in the community. María is a 9th grade student at the school, and recently she has been going through a difficult season in her life. Struggling with the turmoil of her parents getting divorced, and reeling from the grief of losing her grandmother, María began to feel distant from God. Though she continued attending church and participating in daily devotionals at school, María felt spiritually empty. The presence of the Holy Spirit—once so real to her—felt absent.
Then, during a school devotional, the pastor announced an upcoming youth camp, and something stirred in her heart. She knew she needed to go, motivated to reconnect with God and feel the Holy Spirit once more.
At the camp, surrounded by worship and prayer, María felt God’s presence again. She felt the Holy Spirit moving in her heart, bringing comfort, life, and joy. In that sacred moment, she found the strength to forgive—her father, her mother, and others who had hurt her.
María left the camp transformed—grateful that God heard her prayer and filled her heart with peace and purpose once again.
