José “Cesarín” Morban

National Director for Dominican Republic

José “Cesarín” Morban joined the One More Child family in 2015, serving as the National Director for Dominican Republic. Born in the capital, Santo Domingo, Cesarín has served in many different capacities over the years, working first in refrigeration and next as an electrician. He has more than 18 years of combined work experience in general contracting and the transportation industry—which makes him extra qualified for the work he does in the community of El Carrizal! He has a certificate of training in Systematic Theology from the Santo Domingo Theological Institute, and has been an integral part of the connection between One More Child and our ministry partner Iglesia Fundamento Bíblico.

Cesarín’ s responsibilities include working with One More Child teams, administering transportation and leadership to each group traveling to the Dominican Republic. He also oversees a team of Dominican construction workers that are helping to build homes and community in the municipality of El Carrizal. Additionally, with the help of a local social worker, Cesarín helped launch and maintain the Sponsorship Program for the ministry in the Dominican Republic. He is a dedicated worker and servant of the Lord!

When he is not working with teams or construction work, you can find Cesarín assisting in his local church or enjoying his favorite meal of Guandules and coconut.

Karen Mesa

National Child Sponsorship Coordinator for Dominican Republic

Dr. Karen Mesa, general practitioner, officially joined the One More Child family in October 2015, after having volunteered her services previously. Karen serves as a social worker in the Dominican Republic, providing care for children in our feeding ministry and sponsorship program. Dr. Mesa’s medical skills are also critical in overseeing the health of the children in our care, ensuring the children have an appropriate growth for their age and that they have a positive upbringing. Her skills as a certified Biblical counselor with conflict management training are a great asset.

Karen maintains positive working relationships with national governmental institutions to provide ongoing training for parents in our ministry. She also maintains relationships with area doctors, specialists and hospital directors and assumes a large leadership role with medical mission teams that come to the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Mesa’s passion is to serve for the glory of God and claims the best part of her job is notifying a family that has been sponsored.

Alejandra Búrbano

National Director for Guatemala

Alejandra Búrbano joined One More Child in March 2010 and currently serves as the National Director for Guatemala. Born and raised in La Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala she graduated from La Salle High School in 2007 and went on to be certified as a legal translator through the Guatemala Department of Education in 2011. She graduated in 2018 with a degree in business administration from the University Rafael Landívar.

In 2007, Alejandra’s life was changed and a passion for missions was born after she went on her first mission trip to Los Chucles, Huehuetenango in Guatemala. God uses her missions heart and passion for serving children and others in helping with impacting the life of one more child through developing faith-based and social programs for the materially poor families that One More Child ministers to, as well as helping coordinate ministry projects for One More Child mission teams at the Malnutrition Center in San Juan Sacatepéquez. She is also part of the team responsible for managing the Child Sponsorship Program.

Laura (Jones) Muyingo

Long-Term Missionary to Uganda

Laura first joined the One More Child family in the spring of 2010 as a participant on a short-term missions team to Guatemala. She served in Guatemala for a week in 2010 and a week in 2011. Laura knew from a young age that she would end up on the foreign mission field, and at the age of 15, God specifically called her to Uganda. She served with One More Child in Uganda for two weeks in 2012 and as an intern for six weeks in 2016.

Now, Laura works as an Instructional Coach at Genesis Primary School in Uganda where she teaches kindergarten through 7th grade and works in both small group and whole group classroom instruction. She works with all of the classroom teachers, empowering them to introduce new teaching strategies that promote critical thinking and active learning environments. She also assists with our Child Sponsorship Program, teaches Sunday School and works with our Awana and Saturday feeding programs.

In addition, Laura leads our short-term mission teams to Uganda and oversees our summer intern program! Her greatest desire is for every person to know they are loved by Jesus Christ and to find joy in their unique purpose in life.

Laura grew up in Niceville, Florida, and she served often with First Baptist Church of Niceville. Laura graduated from the University of Florida in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and also earned her master’s in Curriculum and Instructional Development. She was a teacher in Alachua County for several years before moving to Uganda full time in July of 2017.

Laura Matamoros Molina

National Child Sponsorship Coordinator for Costa Rica

Laura Matamoros Molina is from San José, Costa Rica, and is currently serving with her with husband, Pastor Mauro in Tirrases.

Together they are serving through their church in a local community and providing critical resources and ministry to many vulnerable children and struggling families through a variety of outreach programs, such as a feeding ministry, child sponsorship, soccer and taekwondo ministries and more.

Laura grew up in a low-income family and higher education was not possible for a long time. However, after much hard work, she now has a bachelor’s degree in education. She also has achieved certifications in technology programs and is currently studying English. She has goals to continue her education in administration. She desires to continue her education and training in order to better serve the Kingdom of God. She is a great asset to our global team!

Laura has a passion for children so she loves working with One More Child in the child sponsorship and feeding programs. Her desire is that each child and family will be impacted by the love of God, that their lives will be transformed, and that they will know Jesus truly loves and cares for them.

Your generosity can make a difference in the lives of others.
