Will you help us spread the word about
HIGH-PRIORITY sponsorships?
High-priority children have been sponsored in the past but recently lost their sponsorship support.
From Tears to Newfound Hope
In the narrow lanes of a crowded slum, where the sound of quarrels often drowns out laughter and the temptations of the streets—drugs, gangs, and despair—pull young hearts away from hope, one place shines like a bright light. This ray of hope is One More Child’s Feeding Program and Day Care Center.
For children like Kamal* in South Asia, this after-school program is more than a place for a warm meal. It is a refuge, a haven, and a house of prayer.
Kamal is a bright 8th-grade boy who comes to the center faithfully every day. Recently, life at home became unbearable, as his parents’ fights turned into deep wounds, and soon talk of divorce filled the air. For over a month, Kamal watched his family fall apart. One day, unable to hold it in, Kamal broke down in tears at our center.
Toma in Romania
The last few months have been marked by trials for Toma, a sponsored child in Romania. At the end of last year, he fractured his right leg and has needed multiple doctor visits since.
Throughout this time, the local ministry team in Romania supported him and his family, accompanying them to appointments and helping with medication. Despite the challenges, Toma stayed positive and even wanted to join the children’s activities from his wheelchair.
Toma continues to need prayers for his recovery. His latest check-up showed the bone has not fully healed, which will require a plaster cast, as well as a significant calcium deficiency, which needs further investigation. Thankfully, Toma has access to the care he needs and the support of his family and ministry team to help him stay hopeful during his recovery.
María in Guatemala
María Alexandra is 18 years old and has been part of One More Child’s sponsorship program for more than 11 years. As the oldest child in her family, she recently reached an incredible milestone—becoming the first in her family to graduate from high school. Along with her diploma, she also earned a certificate to become a nurse.
María’s journey was not easy. Her family faced financial challenges, and at one point she even had to repeat a school year. Yet she refused to give up. With determination and support from the sponsorship program, María kept working toward her goal.
Her graduation is especially meaningful because she is the second sponsored child from the Guatemala Ministry Center to complete high school. Her story is a powerful reminder of how opportunity, encouragement, and hard work can open doors for a brighter future and inspire other students to follow in her footsteps.
Restored Health and Renewed Hope : Gustave’s Story
As an enthusiastic preschooler, Gustave spends his days learning the alphabet, practicing how to write his name, building his counting skills, and singing songs. As a sponsored child in our program in Haiti, he receives vital educational support he likely would not otherwise have access to. At this critical stage of development, that access is helping lay the foundation for a brighter future.
Recently, Gustave’s daily school routine was interrupted when he came down with an illness. A high fever left him weak and unable to attend school. This kind of illness can be terrifying for families in developing countries with limited access to medical care and the resources needed to afford it.
Edwin in El Salvador
Sponsorship changes the trajectory of children’s lives. Below Edwin shares what his sponsorship means to him personally:
“I, Edwin, was one of the first children sponsored in El Salvador. Being sponsored is one of the greatest blessings that not only I, but also my family, have received. It is a great blessing for us that you support me with tuition and everything I need for school. Thank God, next year I will start my first year of high school. That makes me very happy because it is a big challenge, but a very important one for me to overcome. Being part of One More Child motivates me to be a good student because I know my sponsor is proud of me. Thank you for being a blessing to many children, especially me and my family.”
Magarita in the Dominican Republic
Margarita Ramirez is a single mother who had to drop out before she could complete high school. Despite the challenges as a single mother without a high school diploma, she works diligently as a baker, creating cakes and other baked goods, at one of the commercial spaces our ministry built in the community. She is an active member of the local church and speaks with gratitude for both God and our ministry, especially for the support her son receives as a sponsored child. It’s a blessing that greatly helps her family.
Margarita asks for prayers for herself and her children, that they may grow and succeed as a result of this new work project, and that it may bring hope and opportunity to their lives.
Growing in His Word, Rooted in Community
Scripture calls us not only to follow the Word of God, but to teach our children to do the same. In Colombia, a group of devoted moms took that calling to heart—and now, their young daughters gather each day to read the Bible.
It started with Keren and Isabella. Wanting to nurture a love for Scripture, Keren’s mother encouraged her daughter to begin reading the Bible each day with her friend Isabella, who is sponsored through One More Child. For a few days, it was just the two of them, opening Scripture together.
But it didn’t stay small for long—others began to notice. Two other sponsored children, Dalesca and Genesis joined Keren and Isabella to read the Bible together.
Jonah in Uganda
Meet Jonah, a 13-year-old whose life is already being transformed through sponsorship. After enduring deep trauma, neglect, and inconsistent schooling while living with a struggling guardian, Jonah found hope and stability when he joined our ministry and school in Uganda. Though he initially spoke very little English, in just a few months he has risen to the top of his class, revealing remarkable potential. Even more meaningful, his sponsorship made it possible for him to be reunited with his brothers, Elia and Joseph, at the children’s home. Once timid and withdrawn, Jonah is now a joyful, confident, and energetic young boy—thriving in ways that once seemed out of reach.
Mileydi in Nicaragua
When Mileydi first joined the ministry, she carried both a deep desire to grow and significant personal and spiritual needs. Through consistent support, encouragement, and care, those needs were met in meaningful ways. Sponsorship not only provided essential resources, like regular food baskets for her family, but also created space for her to develop lasting values such as responsibility, perseverance, and gratitude. More importantly, it nurtured her faith and reminded her that she is seen, known, and loved. Today, Mileydi is pursuing her studies in accounting—a milestone that speaks to her determination and the steady investment made in her life. Her story is a testament to how sponsorship goes beyond meeting immediate needs by cultivating hope and confidence.
Education as a Path to Safety
Britany and her family came to Costa Rica from Nicaragua in search of a better life, including a better education. In Nicaragua, Britany received a poor education, and at 15-years-old, she struggled to keep up at her new school. As she was finishing her final year of primary school, she took the final exam but only answered 43 of the 200 questions correctly.
Britany was allowed two more attempts to pass the exam, but the pressure was immense. A lot more was riding on this exam than getting a good grade. If she did not pass, she would not be allowed to continue in primary school or move on to secondary school. Without access to education in Costa Rica, Britany could have been forced to return to Nicaragua to work or be forced into early marriage.
Britany’s safety and future depended on passing this exam.
