A BOUTIQUE FOR AT-RISK TEENAGE GIRLS

One More Child’s Loft 181 is a clothing boutique for teenage girls ages 13-18, with a special focus on supporting foster care youth and trafficking survivors. Each visitor selects from a curated collection of new and gently-used clothing – all provided free of charge!

Beyond style, Loft 181 offers a transformational experience where every guest can find a loving haven of acceptance and newfound hope.

How it started

Founded in 2006, Loft 181 took its name from the number of girls in the Hillsborough County foster care system at the time. Initially situated in a space called the “Loft” at Idlewild Church, the shop has since blossomed into a beautiful standalone boutique. It now serves as an extension of One More Child, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving vulnerable children and families both nationally and globally.

Jennifer Whitten

Loft 181 Manager

Jennifer serves as Manager of Loft 181, a clothing boutique for teenage girls, ages 13-18 in foster care. She believes that her mission is to serve some of Tampa’s most vulnerable young women.

Jennifer is no stranger to serving, as she has been involved with Loft 181 since its inception in 2011. She first served as a volunteer clothing sorter, then a personal shopper, and eventually every role in between. Jennifer says that it is truly a full circle moment to now be managing this amazing ministry while serving the young ladies of her community.

With a background in elementary education, Jennifer taught for several years before staying at home with her children and then coming on staff with One More Child. She believes God has uniquely gifted her with an ability to connect with others and make them feel welcomed and loved.

Jennifer is married to Philip, One More Child’s National Director of Partnerships, and together they have four beautiful daughters.

Ginny Whitten

Loft 181 Manager

Ginny Whitten serves One More Child as Manager and founding member of Loft 181, a clothing boutique that serves teenage girls ages 13-18 who are currently in foster care and those who have been rescued from human trafficking. Ginny’s passion is to craft an environment of hospitality that puts the gospel of Jesus at the heart and display of Loft 181.

Through Loft 181, Ginny helps to create and ensure an uplifting and memorable experience for each client. Her role is multi-faceted, one day she may be sorting clothes, setting appointments, and serving girls, and the next coordinating donations, gathering and growing volunteers, or simply maintaining the boutique. It is her desire to be the practical hands and feet of Jesus through serving and encouraging.

Ginny has been married to her husband, Pastor Ken Whitten, for 47 years. Together they have been in ministry for 46 of those years as Ginny has served as a Women’s Ministry Coordinator, speaker, Bible study teacher, President of the SBC Ministers Wives Luncheon, Florida Baptist Ministers Wives committee member, and a Florida Baptist College board member.
