As an enthusiastic preschooler, Gustave spends his days learning the alphabet, practicing how to write his name, building his counting skills, and singing songs. As a sponsored child in our program in Haiti, he receives vital educational support he likely would not otherwise have access to. At this critical stage of development, that access is helping lay the foundation for a brighter future.
Recently, Gustave’s daily school routine was interrupted when he came down with an illness. A high fever left him weak and unable to attend school. This kind of illness can be terrifying for families in developing countries with limited access to medical care and the resources needed to afford it.
However, thanks to One More Child’s sponsorship program, Gustave received the medical care he needed. He was seen by medical professionals, given medication, and closely monitored while he recovered. After several days of this treatment, his health improved, and his joyful smile returned.
Gustave made a full recovery and is now back in school and back to perfecting the alphabet and singing his favorite songs.
