Mission Update from One More Child

Every week, the leadership and staff of One More Child come together for prayer and devotion to celebrate the encouraging progress in our ongoing mission to serve vulnerable children and struggling families, all for the glory of God.

Here is a glimpse into the recent good news, activities, and accomplishments at One More Child:

An Egg-cellent Blessing

At One More Child, we strive to answer any donor offering or request for help with one word: “yes.” Recently, we were able to say yes in a big way when we received a call from one of our longstanding partners about a donation of eight semi-truck loads of organic, cage-free brown eggs.

As part of our Compassion Ministries, we receive and distribute in-kind gifts to ministry partners within our national network. This tangible support enables our partners to provide wraparound services to families in crisis and children in need.

When Levi Stovall, who oversees procurement and coordinates logistics for our Child Hunger program, received a call from Woodland Partners, the supermarket packaging and distribution company, he immediately said yes.

Our staff and volunteers coordinated the distribution of 388,800 eggs on 240 pallets across our network of local and national partners.

In the end, these eggs reached 27 different ministries and nonprofits, many of which function on limited resources. The support and provision from One More Child allow them to help the vulnerable in their community. Thanks to everyone who played a part in this “egg-cellent” blessing, one more hungry child will receive nourishment and hope.

A Sweet 16

In Lutz, Florida, an unassuming shop offers something extraordinary to vulnerable teenage girls. One More Child’s Loft 181 serves teenage girls in foster care and survivors of human trafficking with a personalized shopping experience and an introduction to the love of Jesus.

About a year ago, our Loft 181 team went above and beyond for one girl in need to make her feel special on her birthday. Sadie’s* 16th birthday was approaching, but rather than focusing on this exciting milestone, her life was consumed by pain. She experienced extreme instability while in foster care and was separated from her sister. Amid this struggle, Sadie’s guardian ad litem connected her with Loft 181 and worked with our team to arrange a surprise Sweet 16 birthday party, hoping this would make her feel loved and cherished.

This Sweet 16 surprise accomplished its goal, bringing joy, hope, and love into Sadie’s life during a time when she desperately needed it.

Now, a year later, Sadie’s guardian ad litem shared an exciting and encouraging update with our Loft 181 team. Sadie has been adopted by a loving family and has found success in school and fulfillment in life. God worked in her heart and in her circumstances to turn her pain into joy—and she points to the surprise Sweet 16 party as the start.

Sadie’s guardian ad litem shared, “You guys truly saved her life when you hosted that birthday for her at 16… You gave her hope and made her feel valued and loved.”

Sadie is now thriving! She loves her adoptive family, recently spoke at a fundraising event to advocate for children, and plans to travel the world. It all started when a birthday party—fueled by sharing the love of Jesus—changed the trajectory of her story.

Summer Missions— By the Numbers

One More Child Global has mission teams traveling the world all throughout the year, but our busiest season is the summer, and this year was no exception.

In the span of three months, from May 1 to July 31, One More Child led 25 mission trips, consisting of 343 participants. These mission teams joined our global ministry partners to serve vulnerable children and struggling families in eight countries across four continents.

Our mission teams included groups from churches, universities, One More Child staff and leadership, and more. The teams came alongside our global ministry partners to serve each community according to its unique and individualized needs. While each location held different opportunities for service, one thing remained constant across every trip: sharing the hope and love of Jesus Christ.

We are so grateful for all 343 individuals who said yes to serving one more child globally! Together, we are meeting the needs and changing the lives of vulnerable children and struggling families worldwide.

To everyone who joined One More Child’s Global missions this summer, thank you!
