Every year, on the second Sunday in June, our country observes National Children’s Day to honor the gift of children in our lives and recommit to promoting their well-being. As a nonprofit organization whose mission is to serve vulnerable children, this observance is more than a date on a calendar. National Children’s Day is a reminder of why we exist.
We are called to cherish children with the love and grace of Jesus Christ—yet across the world, children are growing up without safety, stability, and love. At One More Child, we seek to help heal those who are hurting, tend to the overlooked, and intervene on behalf of children in crisis—not just one day in June, but every day of the year.
Restoring Childhoods
Childhood should be filled with joy, fun, and wonder—yet far too often, poverty, instability, and exploitation steal these precious childhood moments.
Children can’t focus in school or run freely on the playground with the ache of an empty stomach or the lingering fear that there’s no food at home. By providing meals and food to hungry children, we restore physical nourishment and the opportunity to experience the simple joys of childhood.
Childhood is often marked by cycles of uncertainty for children experiencing instability in the home, bouncing between foster homes, never knowing where they will lay their head that night. Through our licensed Christian foster homes, we restore a sense of belonging and steadfast love to foster children, grounded in the love of Jesus.
Children who experience the horrific trauma of trafficking or sexual exploitation have their childhoods stolen from them. Our expert teams walk alongside survivors, bringing restoration by helping them process what they have endured, heal from deep trauma, and set goals that will set them on a path to a brighter future.
Renewing Hope
Through the restoration of childhood comes opportunity to renew hope for a safe, stable, and joyful life.
Vulnerable children may believe suffering will endure forever, even if they experience moments of love and stability. We seek to transform these moments into a deep perspective shift, where hope takes root through the love of Jesus and His people carrying out His mission.
We do not simply want to be another foster home a child passes through. We want to carry the light of hope so that each child in our care understands what it means to be loved by God. We do not simply want a trafficking survivor to experience a reprieve from abuse. We want her to have hope that the trauma she’s endured will not continue forever.
To renew hope, children need consistency, clarity, and compassion—this is what One More Child offers.
Helping Children Flourish
With restored childhoods and renewed hope, children are given the chance to thrive. Poverty and instability are cycles that can pass from generation to generation, unless something or someone intervenes to chart a different path. Even when immediate needs are met, these cycles can continue to perpetuate without holistic, wraparound support for children and families.
Through One More Child’s trauma-informed, child-centered, and expert-led programs, we meet immediate needs and work with children and families to establish healthy habits, guiding principles, and long-term goals that lead to flourishing. Transformation is possible when families are empowered, and children are supported—impacting not only today, but generations to come.
