The Gift of Childhood Joy
There’s no better way to celebrate the Christmas season than surrounded by friends and family, sharing the joy and love of Jesus—and for 40 children and teens in Guatemala, the Christmas season brought something truly special.
Thanks to the generous support of One More Child sponsors and partners, children from Luz y Vida enjoyed a special outing to the Naciones Unidas Natural Park for a day of wonder, laughter, and new experiences. The day was filled with fun outdoor activities, a special lunch, and meaningful moments of connection. Pastor Joel from Luz y Vida Church and dedicated church volunteers organized the outing to give these children the opportunity to play, explore, and delight in the beauty of God’s creation.
A Day of Firsts
For many of these children, the trip represented something far more significant than just a fun day. Many of these children and teens have endured difficult upbringings, facing struggles from a young age, including poverty and instability. This experience allowed them to visit a new place away from home for the first time, taking in unfamiliar sights, trying new activities, and exploring new adventures.
For these children, their day-to-day lives are often weighed down by heavy burdens that no child should have to bear—but this day provided a gift they can treasure and cling to amid immense struggle. On this day of Christmas celebration, they received the gift of childhood joy and the reminder that they are valued, loved, and cherished.
