“Bonjou” (Hello) from Haiti!

This Caribbean nation is prone to natural disasters, causing the destruction of buildings and crops. Approximately 30 percent of the overall population is considered food insecure. Furthermore, about two-thirds of Haitians do not have formal jobs, resulting in unsteady incomes. This is in large part because only about 50 percent of children attend school.

To combat this, we partnered with a diverse ministry that operates as a school, residence, clinic and feeding center. Children obtain a strong education, receive regular nutritious meals, and for some, it is a safe place to call home. This ministry provides food and medicine to children in the community who are not old enough yet to attend school. Most importantly, everyone hears the Gospel of Christ and is offered hope for their future. Lives are being changed in Haiti because of people like you!

Perhaps those most affected by these issues are Haiti’s orphans. After the earthquake, many orphanages, most of which were already struggling to take care of and provide for the children in their care, suffered extensive damage and even loss of life turning what was a dire situation to begin with into a nightmare.

One More Child is currently partnering with three organizations that operate orphanages in Haiti. Our role is to assist these organizations with their feeding programs to ensure that these children are receiving adequate food and nutrition on a daily basis.
