It was hard to miss the thread that bound these families together. For years the residents living in El Carrizal, a rural area of the Dominican Republic, had endured the harsh reality of poverty. Many lived in desperate conditions and struggled to put food on their tables.

In 2013, One More Child, working with a local church and the government, started building a 94-home community called Villa Esperanza (Hope Village), in hopes of providing these residents a better life. Villa Esperanza was completed in 2018, with grateful families living in every home. We continue serving this community, providing help through our Child Sponsorship and feeding programs.

Recently a group of young leaders from our partner church in Santo Domingo offered help to residents of Villa Esperanza. It was a joy to see them serve this community through children’s ministry, feeding programs and home visits. The Gospel of Jesus Christ was shared, as the group held Bible studies and family members received prayer. In one week, more than 200 families were served.

We praise God for these incredible young people who are partnering with One More Child to bring help and hope to families who are struggling in their own community.
