”Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”Isaiah 1:17 (NIV)
Each local Orphan Sunday event is customized and individualized by the coordinator. Past events have included Sunday morning sermons, prayer gatherings, educational seminars, video showings focusing on the orphan crisis, Sunday School class events, student-led fundraisers, foster and adoptive family recruiting, live concerts and more.
Here are three ways you can host an event to make a difference:
Sign Up for a Diaper Drive
Collect much needed diapers for children served through One More Child.
Fill a crib with diapers, build a diaper tower (stack diapers to the ceiling), host a diaper derby, host a baby shower, or collect “diaper change” in jars to provide a diaper change to a child in need. We can’t wait to hear the fun ways you collect diapers and help us meet a tangible need for a child. Sign Up Here!
Create Your Own Event
Our goal is to bring hope to hurting and neglected children. We need you!
Customize your own event and celebrate Orphan Sunday with us! It can focus on diapers or be child-sponsor oriented, offering individuals and families the opportunity to sponsor a precious child through One More Child.
It could be a prayer gathering, Sunday morning sermon (request an OMC speaker), educational seminar, hosting a movie/documentary on the orphan crisis, student-led fundraisers, hosting a foster care/adoption information recruitment event, live concerts, or missions fairs. Have fun, be creative and take action for a child.
Share the Need on Social Media
Your swipes and likes can translate to diapers and smiles!
Maybe you’ve experienced the joy of loving on the children at the Malnutrition Center in Guatemala. Maybe you are a foster parent and know first-hand how every extra diaper helps. Or maybe you are the person who garners 500 likes from a simple Facebook post because people gravitate to you.
Beginning September 1 we will be sharing the story of how diapers play a vital role in caring for children. Share our posts on our Facebook page, Instagram account and Twitter feed or take your own experiences, add a can’t-miss photo and ask people to consider making a gift here.
