In Romania, a little girl named Lidia* and her family struggled to make ends meet, especially while caring for Lidia’s grandmother, Daria*. The family worked hard, but Daria’s deteriorating condition continued to weigh heavily on them. Living in constant pain and unable to perform even the simplest tasks, Daria remained bedridden and grew wearier day by day.
“My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.” Psalms 119: 28 (NIV)
In the midst of their struggles, Lidia and her family receive support from One More Child through the Romanian ministry team and the sponsorship program. As the family worked to care for Daria, they eagerly awaited a food package that would provide much-needed sustenance for the family and a crucial lifeline for Daria.
Sometime after the family received the food package, One More Child team members visited the home and were greeted with warmth and gratitude. Then the family guided our team to the room where Daria lay.
With hearts full of compassion and concern, our team gathered around Daria, seeing the frailty of her body and the weariness in her face. Our team knelt by her bedside and gently held her hands as they prayed over her, asking for divine intervention, miraculous healing, and profound comfort.
“May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.” Psalms 141: 2 (NIV)
Lidia, Daria, and the whole family not only received physical nourishment from the food package, but also received spiritual solace. Our team’s visit helped to remind the family, and especially bedridden Daria, of God’s steadfast faithfulness even in the most challenging circumstances.
In pursuit of our mission to reach one more with Christ-centered services, our global ministry programs establish personal connections, provide tangible support, and share the hope of Jesus with vulnerable children and families in their local communities.
