One More Child’s ministry in South Asia provides vital, life-saving care to children and families facing dire situations. In collaboration with our ministry partners, we serve vulnerable individuals through our feeding program, tutoring classes, skills training, and spiritual encouragement. Many of these families face extreme food insecurity, with every day being a struggle to survive.
This was the case for Vanya’s family in South Asia.
Vanya* is a young girl in a family of six siblings whose lives were consumed by constant hunger. With her father unable to work due to tuberculosis and her mother often sacrificing her own food so her children could eat the little food available, Vanya tried her best to help. She would often resort to taking fruit left at temples and bringing them home to feed her family.
One day, Vanya’s mother became engulfed in despair, seeing no path forward for her family to survive—she contemplated taking her family to train tracks to put an end to their suffering. But God, in His great mercy, had other plans.
The family encountered a stranger with a simple, yet generous offering—a handful of wheat grains and words of encouragement. This humble act of kindness renewed strength and hope in Vanya’s mother. Instead of continuing down the path of despair, the family changed directions and embraced hope.

They went to live at Vanya’s grandmother’s home and started attending church. In this loving community, they were able to empathize with others about their struggles and receive support. Our ministry in South Asia stepped in and provided this family with necessities for their survival, including a ration kit.
Then we connected the family with our after school feeding program and other services offered by our ministry, such as tutoring classes. Vanya no longer searches for fruit at temples, and her family no longer lives in fear of starvation.
In His great love and kindness, God provided for the physical and spiritual needs of this precious family. It is an honor to partner with God in His mission of caring for those in need—we are so grateful for our ministry staff, partners, and volunteers who make this life-saving work possible!
