One More Child’s global ministries seek to bring transformational care by meeting basic needs and introducing the saving grace of Jesus to vulnerable children and families in developing countries. This is precisely what our ministry is doing in communities in Uganda.

In Uganda, many people live in poverty with limited resources and no access to medical care. To meet this critical need a medical clinic was established, serving One More Child’s sponsored children, as well as those in the community who otherwise would likely not have access to medical care. Thanks to generous supporters, the ministry can offer these services at very little or no cost.

During One More Child’s mission trips, the clinic also provides an opportunity for teams with medical professionals to treat hundreds of new patients and introduce more people in the community to this life-saving resource.

This past June, an amazing team of medical (PA) students from Baylor University came to serve in the clinic and treated more than 200 new patients, visited with the community, and passed out resources, including clothing, and other gifts. As part of their work, our teams also encourage and pray with patients, inviting them to fellowship at the local partner church.

During their recent visit, the team from Baylor University connected with Doreen—a young girl who lives with her family in a small hand-built home with limited resources, mainly relying on their gardens to provide for their needs. She also suffered from a painful hernia, but she could not afford the medical treatment she sorely needed.

The mission team was heartbroken at Doreen’s suffering and felt moved to action. The team helped cover the cost to send her to a good hospital that would perform the surgery. Thanks to the team’s compassion and generosity, Doreen will no longer experience daily agony due to her hernia, gifting her peace and hope.

Our global ministries seek to build relationships with the communities we serve and provide services to reach one more, including medical needs like Doreen’s. We are grateful for the Baylor University team serving with us and for generous supporters with a heart to give to vulnerable children and families around the globe!

If you would like to support other children like Doreen, give a gift here. We pray and trust that God will use you to care for his beloved children around the globe.
