Mission Update from One More Child
Every week, the leadership and staff of One More Child come together for prayer and devotion to celebrate the encouraging development in our ongoing mission to serve vulnerable children and struggling families, all for the glory of God.
Here is a glimpse into the good news of the recent activities and accomplishments at One More Child:
Global
A team is in Guatemala this week, and two teams will be heading out this weekend. Medical students from Baylor University will also travel to the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica for health checks and education. Prayers are requested for their safety and success.
Vacation Bible School
We have attended Vacation Bible School clinics and outreach events to encourage support of One More Child’s ministry this summer. So far, we have engaged with 51 churches!
Single Moms & Foster Care
300 Allstate Benefits employees, including their president, assembled Ikea furniture worth $75,000 to $100,000. The furniture filled two semi-trucks before assembly and fifteen rooms afterward. All items will benefit our Single Moms homes and support our foster families. We appreciated the chance to share our work at One More Child with the dedicated volunteers who contributed their time and effort to the event.
A recent Single Moms Community Program training Church was impactful. Single Moms mentors, including a graduate from our Single Moms residential program, Tomasa, shared their personal experiences and encouraged a supportive environment for those in attendance. Learn more about our Single Moms Community Program.
Recently, youth from a partner church gathered to bless foster families in the community. As a part of the effort, One More Child staff was able to share about foster care with their parents, the youth workers, and the youth themselves, bringing awareness of issues facing foster care families. Then, a foster parent in attendance shared their story. The event culminated in the youth dividing up to go pray with our foster families. One More Child Foster Care staff reported it was “a really special time.”
Partners
8,353 diapers and 71 packs of wipes were donated by another partner church, providing essential support for families in our care.
Thank you for your continued prayer and consistent support as we strive to provide Christ-centered services to vulnerable children and struggling families.
