Mission Update from One More Child

Every week, the leadership and staff of One More Child come together for prayer and devotion to celebrate the encouraging progress in our ongoing mission to serve vulnerable children and struggling families, all for the glory of God.

Here is a glimpse into the recent good news, activities, and accomplishments at One More Child:

Anti-Trafficking

This week, our anti-trafficking team responded to a crisis call from a woman who had just fled from her trafficker with her child. She was in crisis and needed immediate help. The team, along with support from other circuits and partnerships, quickly found shelter for the survivor and her child, which is a challenge in their area, ensuring their safety. Our anti-trafficking team continues to provide ongoing care, and we are grateful for the support of our One More Child family partners, volunteers, and donors.

Foster Care

We recently celebrated the completion of our eighth foster family home on the Guardian Angels of Southwest Florida campus. More than 120 partners and supporters attended, enjoying organized tours and stories the foster care team shared. We are encouraged that the community showed up to celebrate this progress!

Recently, Foster Care staff visited 270 churches across Florida to express appreciation to our existing church partners and establish connections with new ones. The outreach effort is unlike any One More Child has undertaken and demonstrates our Foster Care staff’s dedication to increasing awareness of our programs and the needs of foster children in the state.

Global

Three mission teams from Baylor University served in Costa Rica and Guatemala last week. Looking ahead, One More Child has approximately 55-60 mission trips planned in 2024 involving around 800 team members. We are excited about the resurgence of our global program post-COVID and the deepening partnerships with institutions like Baylor University, and we praise God for the opportunity to continue to reach one more in so many other parts of the world!

Single Moms

Single Moms executive staff gathered for a leadership retreat to be encouraged, share experiences, and receive important training and updates that affect the Single Moms program. The staff thanks each of you for praying for One More Child’s Single Moms and supporting the program with your time and gifts!

Volunteers

Members of the Women on Mission of First Baptist Church of Elfers drove an hour and a half to One More Child’s Lakeland headquarters to bring handstitched quilts and bookbags, paper towels, toilet paper, party supplies, birthday supplies, and more to our Family Market here on campus! We are grateful for the individuals who use their time and talents to support our mission.

Recently, an 11-year-old donor named Grace created and sold bracelets, buttons, magnets, and bottle openers under the name “Better 2 Bless.” Over a two-day sale in front of her house, Grace raised $500, which she used to make a thoughtful financial gift to One More Child’s Family Market at the Azinger Compassion Center.

Thank you for your continued prayer and consistent support as we strive to provide Christ-centered services to vulnerable children and struggling families.
