FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
One More Child Equips Leaders in Latin America
Churches and ministries throughout Latin America gathered at the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO) event in Costa Rica for training and networking
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – Ministry leaders throughout Latin America gathered at Iglesia Vida Abundante in Coronado, San Jose, for a special time of training and fellowship. The event was hosted by the Alianza Cristiana para los Huérfanos (ACH), also known as the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO), which exists to raise awareness and equip faith leaders to care for the vulnerable.
Participants were from Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and the United States. One More Child’s team of experts delivered presentations and facilitated workshops, specifically focused on human trafficking and child protection.
Dr. Kathy Pracht, anti-trafficking clinical director, shared how to recognize the signs of human trafficking and taught attendees how to take a trauma-informed approach when helping survivors heal from a life of exploitation.
“It was such an exciting time to connect with our Latin American ministry partners and provide this critical training,” said Rebeka Corgan, executive director of global programs. “These relationships are incredibly special, and we look forward to continuing our work together as we commit to reach more children and families throughout the region.”
One More Child has expanded its global ministries and now operates in 19 countries, conducting nutrition programs and working on community development projects. One More Child’s global Child Sponsorship Program, coordinated with ministry partners in multiple countries, invites individuals and churches to sponsor a child (or multiple children) and provide access to clean water, food, medical care and education.
Those interested in going on a short-term mission trip to work alongside One More Child’s global partners can get more information at https://onemorechild.org/mission-trips.
