120 Years of Hope for Vulnerable Children
An education can change the trajectory of a child’s life – especially one who has been abandoned, abused, or neglected. The classroom provides a sense of normalcy to many of the children we serve who lack consistency in their life.
This year, One More Child celebrates 120 years of helping vulnerable children go back to school with the supplies and support they need to succeed! We have learned firsthand how much education impacts the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of a child.
Whether distributing backpacks filled with school supplies for children in struggling families, supplying haircuts for the children of single moms, providing tutoring for youth in vulnerable situations, or purchasing uniforms for children living in a One More Child foster home, our goal is to support the education of one more child like Johnny.*
An Incredible Transformation
By the time Johnny arrived in his One More Child foster home, he had already been to three different schools – and he was only in the first grade. In the two months prior to his placement, Johnny had multiple incidents at school.
It was obvious that he was angry, confused, and hurting. Johnny’s foster parents worked with him on how to express his emotions and communicate what he was feeling. Johnny’s teacher extended grace when tasks were challenging. With the support of adults that saw his potential, Johnny began to excel in school!
Johnny has made an incredible transformation. Now, he is known at school for his kindness and can’t help but say “hi” to all the teachers in the hallways! Johnny loves to read and asked for a small lamp in his room so he can read before bed. His foster parents happily said, “Yes!”
One More Child is committed to ensuring that each of the children we serve have the tools necessary for a successful school year. We need your gift to provide care, clothing, and supplies to children like Johnny. With your generous partnership, the children in our care will be prepared to shine this school year and have a greater opportunity to excel in life. Will you give today so we can say “yes” to one more?
