School Days are the Days She Eats
For a student in El Salvador, participating in One More Child’s global feeding program transformed each routine school day into her means to live. How? Because school days are the days second-grader Maryori* can eat.
The Privilege of Going to School
Maryori is a student at a school and church partner of One More Child in El Salvador. She receives daily lunches at school through One More Child’s Global Feeding program and loves eating the meals provided! Our feeding program provides children nutritious breakfasts and lunches throughout the school week.
The meals vary from day to day. While her favorite are pupusas, she will still eat every single item placed in the bowl she brings from home.
The days Maryori doesn’t go to school are days she may go without food.
The Revolution of a Global Feeding Program
Our feeding program gathers resources to provide children and families in developing countries with the essentials to thrive. In 2023, One More Child provided more than 19 million meals, nationally and globally. This gift allows families to engage with ministry partners who share the gospel.
Children in the United States often view school as a reluctant ritual with dreaded arrivals at the carline drop-off. Mundane blessings can easily turn into tired whines. But for second grader Maryori, school has never been a forced routine. It is her means to live.
Now, children in the rural villages of El Salvador know school to be a privileged blessing rather than a mandated routine. With a heart of thanksgiving and an attitude of rejoicing, let us each be grateful for the routines we often take for granted.
Let us pray for ways to help the less fortunate, all to help one more child.
