Uganda has limited government or private resources to help disabled children, and many children’s homes in the country can meet a child’s basic needs but are unable to help them thrive and live a full life. One More Child and its partners in Uganda have been fortunate to find quality boarding schools for our visually and hearing-impaired children including the one in Kamonkoli that treats and educates those with physical disabilities like Gloria.
Gloria is happy, with a big smile and even bigger ambitions for her future, and she trusts Jesus to provide for all her needs. Though surgery is available for club hands and feet, it was already too late to treat Gloria’s disabilities when we found her. But through partnerships in the area, One More Child has been able to support her for many years, and now she is a thriving high schooler at the Overcomers facility.
Gloria is an inspiring example of a disabled, sponsored child living a full life! The Lord knows what her future will hold. Some of our visually and hearing-impaired children have gone on to work in the schools they attended as children. One More Child asks for prayer for our partners caring in Uganda – especially those who are working with our disabled sponsored children like Gloria.
