Mission Update from One More Child
Every week, the leadership and staff of One More Child come together for prayer and devotion to celebrate the encouraging development in our ongoing mission to serve vulnerable children and struggling families, all for the glory of God.
Here is a glimpse into the good news of the recent activities and accomplishments at One More Child:
Global
One More Child led a mission team from Christ Journey Church in Miami to Costa Rica, where they engaged in several meaningful outreach activities. This included hosting children’s ministry events such as a soccer clinic and distributing birthday presents to sponsored children celebrating their birthdays that month. The team also served our feeding program and visited the homes of the families we serve to offer prayers.
Special Events
Don’t forget to wear blue Friday, April 9th! April is Child Abuse Prevention Month! In 2021, an estimated 600,000 children were affected by child abuse or neglect, with 1,820 children dying as a result. In 77% of substantiated cases, children were abused by a parent. At One More Child, we care for victims of abuse and provide help for families to prevent this terrible act. A big thank you to Safe Children’s Coalition, which recently contributed pinwheels to one of our own pinwheel gardens. There are several ways you can join us in raising awareness.
Giving Opportunities
On April 9th, you can double your donation to One More Child in support of the vulnerable children and struggling families we serve. The 2024 Giving Challenge runs from 12 p.m. on April 9to to 12 pm on the 10th. How? The Patterson Foundation will match unique gifts between $25 and $100 made to One More Child through the Giving Challenge website during the 24 hours on a dollar for dollar on a 1:1 basis. With about six weeks until Mother’s Day, now is the perfect time to start planning how you and your church can be involved in One More Child’s annual Mother’s Day Offering. To participate, share our impactful work at One More Child with your church, and suggest hosting a Mother’s Day offering as a means to get involved. We will provide everything your church needs, including posters and forms! Your support directly contributes to our mission, enabling us to serve survivors of human trafficking, clients in our family support ministry, and countless others in need.
