Mission Update from One More Child
Every week, the leadership and staff of One More Child come together for prayer and devotion to celebrate the encouraging progress in our ongoing mission to serve vulnerable children and struggling families, all for the glory of God.
Here is a glimpse into the recent good news, activities, and accomplishments at One More Child:
Anti-Trafficking
Feedback is coming in from our Anti-Trafficking 101 course, a training that helps individuals and groups understand what human trafficking is, who it affects, and what steps to take to put an end to the suffering of God’s children. We received feedback from our first Anti-Trafficking 101 group viewing that took place in Ashburn, VA. A pastor who led a group of 20 through the training reported that it was informative and clinical. The parents felt they could safely share the information with their children.
Recently, we had women’s missionary groups from all over North Carolina come together to pack meals for our Anti-Trafficking program. There were about 100 volunteers from Raleigh to Asheville. The group heard Dr. Haag and Christi Haag speak at the Southern Baptist Convention last year and were inspired to support One More Child. The volunteers had a great experience giving back, and we are honored they chose One More Child to partner with.
Recently, One More Child led a Red Sand event and also hosted a group for a training session on our Anti-Trafficking program. This happens regularly! The willingness of our program staff to meet with our partners and share their expertise is an important part of growing and strengthening our meaningful partnerships.
Child Hunger
One More Child received a phone call from one of our partner schools that a family we are currently serving was experiencing hardship and needed more food assistance. We quickly gathered up extra food from our Backpack Meals stock and dropped it off with our school contact. Backpack Meals continues to grow, as we added three more schools to our monthly delivery schedule this year. Two schools partnered with before, but one school was new to One More Child.
Family Support
Last week, the HopeStreet team successfully graduated 15 young people from our Hope For Youth program. During this cycle, we implemented a new curriculum focused on building resilience, teaching them how to find calm amidst challenging situations. It was a wonderful celebration with families joining program staff to honor these young individuals’ achievements.

Foster Care
Recently, one of our Foster Crews mobilized to help a family that took in two children who were placed with only the clothes they were wearing. Nothing else. While the Crew provided wraparound support and prayed and encouraged the family, we were able to send a $200 gift card, donate a stroller, and provide clothing. Also, a single foster mom of a one-year-old foster child received a newborn baby, and their Crew members immediately set out to love on them all!
Single Moms
One of our single moms reported that her children were seeing a difference in her actions and reactions! The mom stated she is putting into practice everything she has learned so far in our Single Moms program, and it is helping and encouraging her. One More Child always rejoices when we hear these success stories!
Thank you for your continued prayer and consistent support as we strive to provide Christ-centered services to vulnerable children and struggling families.
