Mission Update from One More Child

Every week, the leadership and staff of One More Child come together for prayer and devotion to celebrate the encouraging progress in our ongoing mission to serve vulnerable children and struggling families, all for the glory of God.

Here is a glimpse into the recent good news, activities, and accomplishments at One More Child:

We have been exploring ways to support the young mothers in our care. Recently, we have partnered with an organization that specializes in simulation dolls with the hopes of helping these young women understand the realities and responsibilities of parenthood and equip them with essential life skills and guidance for their journey. Additionally, we are organizing tours of maternity wards.

The upcoming National Day of Prayer is this Thursday, May 2nd. The theme is Lift up the Word – Light up the World, and the key verse is 2 Samuel 22:29-31, which says, “For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.” One More Child staff will gather together to pray over eight focus areas.

Here are more details about this year’s National Day of Prayer.

Last week, we had the opportunity to meet with the heads of all the Baptist children’s homes at WinShape Foundation in Georgia, where we were able to share about the impact One More Child is making and learn about the invaluable work of WinShape, particularly their efforts with children in foster care.

We also showcased our compassion center to North Carolina and representatives of Louisiana Baptist Children’s Homes. As a result, both have since established their own compassion centers. Additionally, One More Child’s vision casting has extended to Arkansas, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, and North Carolina, aiding them in launching their global initiatives.

Global

This week, a team from a local church served on the One More Child Lakeland campus. Additionally, this weekend, a team from Southeastern University is preparing to embark on a service trip with us to the Dominican Republic.

The Christian Leadership Academy’s 9th and 10th graders recently engaged in a Serve Day on our Tallahassee campus. During their visit, they assisted Foster Care staff in the Resource Center and helped single-mom staff in the Commissary and a vacant single-mom residence. Additionally, they contributed to grounds maintenance and even vacuumed the entire gymnasium. School leadership emphasized the significance of Serve Day as a preparatory step for future global mission trips.

Thank you for your continued prayer and consistent support as we strive to provide Christ-centered services to vulnerable children and struggling families.
