At 15 years old, Dereck* felt the burden to provide for his family. The only child of a single mom, Dereck was coerced by an older male to sell explicit pictures of himself. Although Dereck knew instinctively this was wrong, the promise of money for his family was far too great to pass up.
Dereck soon found himself trapped in a vicious cycle that left him feeling degraded him and he searched for his identity.
Thankfully, law enforcement intervened in his situation and Dereck came into our care. He is currently in a safe place where he is working with a therapist and getting help through our survivor mentor program. Dereck is progressing well in school and his future looks bright. Thankfully, there is no burden too heavy that God can’t help carry.
