Candess is a 4-year-old girl who lives in the Dominican Republic and dreams of one day becoming a doctor.
Her parents, Belicia and Manolo, are a very young couple trying to make a better life for their family. Belicia finished high school but has been unable to pursue becoming a teacher because of their finances. Manolo only has an 8th grade education and does odd jobs to provide for his family. They cannot afford rent because neither has a fixed income, so they are temporarily living with Manolo’s mother.
The food provided through One More Child’s sponsorship program is an incredible blessing to them, since they used to only eat once a day and were often hungry or would take refuge with other families who sometimes allowed the little family to join them for dinner.
Belicia and Manolo thank God that Candess is a healthy girl and are infinitely thankful for the help of their One More Child sponsor!
